C&IT PC CLINIC - INFORMATION

The WSU Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) PC Clinic provides limited service on non-university desktop and laptop (notebook) computers. This is a fee-based carry-in repair service for computers that are NOT owned by Wayne State University.

An appointment is preferred. Please read the Terms of Service Agreement before you schedule an appointment so that you understand all service terms of the PC Clinic.

Service Type Pricing

Diagnostic and Repair Service
PC Clinic staff will diagnose and repair computer-related issues, such as system driver reinstalls, hardware upgrade recommendations, Wi-Fi fixes, etc. After initial diagnosis a recommendation will be made to the customer.

Stand-alone data backup service - up to 30GB of data can be backed up to customer's external hard drive or USB flash drive

Expediting Fee
The PC Clinic will expedite diagnostics and repair on your computer.
48 hour business day turnaround (average non-expedited repair time is 3-5 business days). This fee is in addition to any standard fees.

Warning: all data and programs will be deleted!

Databackup and reinstall (if possible) of up to 4GB of data
Format hard drive and load supported OS
(Requires media, licenses and product keys)
Install Service Pack updates for Windows
Load drivers (requires media)
Install/upgrade Symantec AntiVirus
Update virus definitions
Install High-Priority updates for Windows
Install missing drivers
Configure internet firewall and browser settings
Install Firefox web browser
Run Cisco Clean Access Agent (ResNet only)


Requirements and Warnings:

  1. Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X.
  2. Computer owners are responsible for backing up any data they do not wish to lose.
  3. Any software to be installed must have original DVDs/CDs, licenses, and product keys.
  4. PC peripherals (ex. your printer, digital camera, etc.) cannot be fully tested at the PC Clinic.

PC Clinic Terms of Service Agreement:

The Wayne State University (WSU) division of Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) provides limited computer diagnostic and repair services on supported personal computers of WSU students, faculty, and staff (Customer).

The customer agrees that all services are provided without warranty of any kind, neither expressed nor implied. WSU shall have no liability for any act or omission in providing services. WSU further reserves the right to refuse to provide services to any individual for any reason or no reason or to cease generally offering services.

I agree to and accept the above and hereby release my computer to the C&IT PC Clinic for service and agree that I shall make no claim of any kind against WSU related to such service.
